London does not feature in Knight Frank’s top 20 global residential cities index of places where property prices are rising fastest. Top in the world, with growth of 22% in the past year, is Surat in India, although its performance follows big falls.
Edinburgh, at 12 per cent, is the only the British city in the top 20, at eighth. Eleven of the top 20 are in Europe. Rotterdam (14.8 per cent), Porto (11.7) and Sofia (11.3) join long-standing front runners such as Berlin (14.9), Budapest (14.4) and Reykjavik (11.8).
