Art of Battersea

Argentinean artist Amalia Pica has been commissioned to create a public work of art in Battersea at the revived Queenstown archway on Prince of Wales Drive.

Developer, St William commissioned the London-based artist Amalia Pica to create the installation called Microscopic Park Life.

Prince of Wales Drive is a new development of 955 homes on the five-acre, former gasworks site. The artwork, to be created from digitally printed porcelain tiles, is the result of an expedition to Battersea Park where Pica and microbiologist Joanne Santini who collected samples of soil and water from the gardens and ponds. The tiles will impart the mysteries that a microscope reveals.
