Clydesdale Leaves Customers Hanging

When most people look at which mortgage to take out they usually concentrate on the interest rate and the fees, but service – and speed – are also important, as some people applying to Clydesdale Bank have discovered. Brokers have complained that they have been left hanging on the phone for up to 50 minutes to discuss applications with the bank and some have even just been cut off. This “awful” service as some have described it can add delays to an already fraught and complex process. Clydesdale, which has an attractive two-year fix at 1.59 per cent, apologised for the delays and said that it was aware of “call handling issues” and was working hard to resolve them.
